ABOUT THE ARTIST
Clemens Wolf *1981 in Vienna, studied painting with Ursula Hübner at the University of Art and Design Linz. In his artistic work, he focuses on capturing unreproducible moments. This exploration began with the urban space with its ruins and fences. Wolf captured the beauty of decay and the ephemeral in large-format, monochrome landscape paintings.
In his more recent works, the artist has swapped the image for the material. In the „Parachute Works“ series, which consists of paintings, objects, drawings and sculptures, the artist uses decommissioned main and reserve parachutes, which he arranges into folds on the canvas on the wall or in the room and freezes with coloured epoxy resin. For Wolf, the fold symbolises the ephemeral and irreproducible.
The question of representationalism and abstraction plays just as central a role in this group of works as the sensual experience of the material and sensory perception
Wolf has already had exhibitions in China, Switzerland, France, Germany, the USA and Israel, is represented internationally by several galleries and is part of renowned collections such as that of the Albertina Museum.
Clemens Wolf lives and works in Vienna and Lower Austria.
